Starter Drives

Engage Your Engine: Starter Drives (The Bendix)

The Starter Drive (often called the Bendix) is the gear mechanism that extends to spin your flywheel and retracts once the engine fires. If your starter makes a high-pitched grinding noise or spins freely without turning the engine, the drive gear teeth are stripped or the clutch mechanism has failed.

Types We Stock:

  • Inertia Drives: For older systems (Ford Flathead, early tractors) that rely on rotational speed to engage.

  • Solenoid Actuated: For modern plunger-style starters.

  • Folo-Thru: The specialized drives that prevent premature disengagement.
