This switch is an interchange for Ford/Mercury OEM P/N C1AZ-7A247-A and is suitable for a wide range of Ford passenger cars and trucks, as well as Mercury models, from 1951 through 1965 equipped with automatic transmissions. It prevents the engine from being started unless the transmission is in Neutral or Park.
